This was a really exciting shoot for me as it was the first time I have collaborated not only with a hair and make up artist (in the fabulous ladies, Sarah and Bec, from Sublime Mobile Hair and Make Up, who seriously outdid themselves with this one! Ah-Mazing!), but also with a real life stylist! Kate, from Style is Eternal was able to give the shoot a very cohesive look, creating a distinct colour palette and feel that could be then passed on to all others involved. She also sourced the most divine head wear from the amazing Shara Gillahan Millinery for our French Diva to wear atop her heightened mass of powdered curls. I also got to work with the stunning Melissa Buchanan, whom I met almost a year ago at the most amazing day at the Echuca Races. Her hairstyle that day was what inspired this whole idea! Mel bought the idea of a modern Marie to life in front of my lens. She asked how did I want her to portray the doomed French Queen with a modern twist. My reply; like a Kardashian….and the rest was magic! Of course no story about this excessive woman would be complete without cakes; and lots of them! This is where the brilliant Tracy from Tracy’s cakes came in to play, creating three gorgeous tiered masterpieces, and countless cupcakes to cater to Marie’s over indulgences! Finally the look all came together by being shot on location in the suitably appropriate bridal suite and grounds of the Adelphi Apartments. I can not thank you all enough for such a wonderful day, and I hope you all enjoy viewing the end results.
Let’s just quietly imagine we are turning the pages of a French Vogue in a gorgeous little salon in Paris whilst sipping French champagne, and viewing this as a glorious editorial spread…or not; but it’s more fun that way!
